One of Merano’s most prominent inhabitants from the 19th century was physician Dr. Franz Tappeiner, whose tracks we still follow today, literally, in the famous “Tappeinerweg Trail” (high level promenades). He had a magnificent Jugendstil villa built in the city for his daughter, which he named the Sonnenhof.
